How to Apply Magnetic Lashes in Just 2 Easy Steps!

It only takes two steps to apply magnetic lashes, but how can it be that easy? Well… innovation over the years has made a huge difference in the ease of lash application in general.

When magnetic lashes first came to market, they were very exclusive and not approachable for lash beginners. Magnets were large and uncomfortable, anchors were needed to hold the corners of the lashes down, and trimming meant often you'd lose several magnets from the lash band. The application process was messy, lengthy and challenging. However, as magnetic lashes have surpassed the fad phase and have become one of the most innovative categories in the lash space, brands have invested in improving the magnetic product offering.

How to Apply Magnetic Lashes

Ready to try magnetic lashes? Read through our expert tips below and get ready to simplify your lash routine!

Tip

After you complete your makeup, curl your natural lashes and apply mascara. This will ensure that your natural lashes blend with the magnetic lash for a more natural and seamless look. Be sure to do this before applying your magnetic lashes, as applying directly on your magnetic lashes can reduce their shelf-life of 30+ uses.

Step 1

To apply, all you need a magnetic liner – it’s as simple as that. If you’re looking for a safe, comfortable, and multipurpose magnetic liner, the Velour Beauty Lash & Go Eyeliner will give you that and more. It’s super pigmented, dries down completely to a beautiful black finish, and can also be used with regular lashes! You really can’t go wrong with this 3-in-1 product.

First, shake the bottle and then apply the eyeliner at the lash line. My tip – start on the inner corner and use a stamping motion until you get to the outer corner. Once you’ve done that, go back and make the eyeliner as thick as the magnets – this will ensure the magnetic lashes stay put all day!

Step 2

When applying magnetic lashes, you want the magnetic eyeliner to be completely dry. That way the magnetic lash can just snap right into place on top of the liner! There’s no tackiness aspect like when dealing with a traditional lash adhesive. My tip - apply an extra coat of magnetic liner for additional strong hold throughout the day.

Once the liner is dry, to apply your lashes, you can either use your fingers or an applicator. Position your fingers or applicator by the outer corner of the lash, then position it on inner corner of your eyes and let it magnetize and snap onto the liner. Don’t worry about perfect placement your first try – one of the best things about magnetic lashes is that you can simply remove and readjust!

How to Remove

Gently pull the lash off and away from the eyelid and place back on the magnetic strip in the lash box. After you’ve worn them a few times, I’d recommend using a gentle oil-free makeup remover to clean off any makeup or build up along the lash band and magnets. Velour Beauty magnetic lashes can be worn up to a total of 30 times with proper care, so my tip would be to use a cotton bad, q-tip or lash wand soaked in remover to gently dissolve any residue left on the lashes.

The magnetic eyeliner will come off when you remove your makeup during your skincare routine – using an oil-free makeup remover, micellar water or even an oil-based cleanser or balm is an effective way to gently cleanse your eye area.

Our Recommendation

The Velour Beauty Magnetic Effortless Kit has a ¾ length lash and a mini Lash & Go Eyeliner. This kit is perfect for lash beginners, especially if trying magnetic lashes for the first time. The shorter band makes application even easier because you don’t need to measure or trim the band prior to applying - you only need to apply the liner and then snap on the magnetic lash! Velour’s magnetic lashes are all 100% handmade, vegan, and cruelty-free and you get 30+ uses from them.
